TENSION RISES AS TRADERS CLASHES WITH TRADITIONAL COUNCIL OVER FORCEFUL EJECTION EXERCISE

A clash between some traders of (Russia Park – a business centre in Agogo) and the local authorities in the Ashanti Akyem North Municipality of the Ashanti region ended in bizarre as traders protested against the forceful ejection exercise carried out by the traditional leaders.

According to some traders led by the Assembly Member for Apetenyinase Electoral Area Hon. Isaac Abrokwah indicated that, the short notice issuance by the local authorities to evacuate from the long recognized trading centre is uncalled for.

Speaking to DKMNEWS.NET, the angry traders emphasized emphatically that, leaders should have communicated with their leaders to intensify education on the reasons for the exercise than forcefully ejecting them.

Although, they have offered us another place, we want to state boldly that the place is prone to robbery and risking our lives won’t be valuable, hence we are not moving an inch.

We are sending a word of caution to the contractor to desist from carrying out any work or face our anger, they stated.

However, responding to the comments made by the traders in an interview with DKMNEWS.NET , Mr. Samuel Owiredu Acheampong, Akyeamhene of Agogo Traditional Council -Nana Boakye Yiadom has empowered the traders to hold the contractor responsible if any damage is done to their goods.

Meanwhile , the Ashanti Akyem Coordinating Director ,Mr Francis Adu Boateng speaking to Samuel Owiredu Acheampong on Anopa Bosuo on reasons why efforts to furnish the new trading center allocated to the traders have delayed had this to say.
