Asenie Electoral Area residents at Akyem Oda in the Birim Central Municipality of Eastern region have expressed displeasure on the side of the municipal authorities for their collapsed footbridge due to their negligence and refusal to attend to them after several complains through their assembly member and the local media.
Speaking to DKMNEWS.NET, Hon. Papa Yaw Amoah Assembly member for Asenie electoral area revealed that, he officially raised concerned on the floor of the assembly members meetings and wrote to the municipal assembly but his plea fell on death ears and that led to the collapsed of the footbridge which nearly caused disaster as people who uses the bridge almost lost their lives.
He hinted that he would have drag the Assembly to court should the collapsed footbridge had led to someone’s death hence he is calling on the assembly authorities to as a matter of urgency find an immediate solution to enable residents of the electoral area and users of the footbridge especially school children have access to cross the river from one end to the other.
Some residents of Asenie electoral area and users of the collapsed footbridge speaking to the media expressed worry and frustration they are going through after the bridge collapsed and have called on the Birim Central Municipal assembly authorities, NGO’s and central government to come to their aid to provide an immediate but lasting solution to their problem.
