The Germany Development Corporation (GIZ) in collaboration with the Ministry of Employment and Labour Relations is taking steps to make irregular migration especially amongst the Youth unattractive by creating local jobs for them so that there would be no need to travel outside in search of Greener Pastures and suffer its dire consequences.

Irregular migration has been a serious concern to Ghanaian Youths especially in the Bono and Ahafo Region areas where many youths travel through the Deserts or Oceans to seek for jobs in Europe and the Arab Springs and end up being maltreated, jailed or even killed; a worrying development the GIZ and Labour Ministry is working to reduce or end it.

Speaking in an interview with DKMNEWS.NET when a campaign float was organized in Techiman the Bono East Regional capital under the theme, “Our Youth, Our Jobs, Our Future” to create awareness on the dangers of irregular migration, Madam Alice Claridge the Project Manager for German Development Corporation in charge of Bono East, Bono and Ahafo Regions said GIZ through this project is giving over 9000 Ghanaian Youths entrepreneurship training and financial support to help reduce unemployment.

Mr. Charles Baah the Bono East Regional Labour Officer advised Ghanaian Youths to always travel through legal means with work guarantee or stay home and seek for decent work with the assistance of his outfit.
