The hike in prices of commodities does not seem to reflect only in Accra and the big cities of Ghana.
Tamale has not been left out as traders have opted for various strategies to overcome price hikes, especially in food and fuel.
GBC’s Maltiti Sayida Sadick visited the Central Market of Tamale to find out how traders and drivers of the Central business district are strategizing to overcome the emerging trends of high cost of food and fuel.
She reports that most shops in the Central market were closed.
”The prices are simply skyrocketing………on a daily basis making life unbearable”.
”Sometimes we have to reduce the number of times for our meals, due to the increase in foodstuff”.
It is also expensive to shop for goods and also transport materials to and from the market.
This situation has therefore compelled shop owners to close down their shops to avoid making losses.
Traders in the Tamale Central market are therefore calling on the government to put measures in place to stabilize the prices of food and fuel, to enable the traders to bounce back to business.
