The singer, 79, performed as the musical guest during the Dec. 20 episode of Saturday Night Live, which saw Ariana Grande serve as host.

For her first musical performance, Cher sang “DJ Play a Christmas Song” from her 2023 holiday album, Christmas.

Later during the show, she returned to the Studio 8H stage to sing a cover of Chuck Berry’s “Run Rudolph Run,” also featured on her holiday LP.

Cher last appeared as a musical guest on SNL in November 1987. The star, who has never hosted the late-night comedy sketch series, has also made various cameos over the years.

Cher released a new holiday tune, “Christmas Is Here,” earlier this month. The single served as a follow-up to the Grammy Award winner’s Christmas project.

Christmas, Cher’s twenty-seventh studio album, includes “DJ Play a Christmas Song” and other new tracks, marking the singer’s first project to feature original material in ten years following 2013’s Closer to the Truth.

The LP also includes various holiday classics, including Eartha Kitt‘s “Santa Baby.”

Duets with Darlene Love on “Christmas (Baby Please Come Home)” and Stevie Wonder for “What Christmas Means to Me” are similarly featured.

Last year, Cher released Forever, her eleventh greatest hits album, featuring some of her biggest songs, including “Believe,” “If I Could Turn Back Time” and “Strong Enough,” to name a few.

Saturday Night Live airs weekends on NBC.
