Gomoa Kweikrom is a farming community in the Gomoa East District with the population of three thousand to four thousand but don’t have potable pipe water to drink, cook and even to bath, this has became a long time burden on the people of the citizens.
A community with such population has only one well water but when it get to the dry season then it dries off so they have to depend on the pit of the sand winners to get water meanwhile this same pit too is been use by the cows and the donkeys which is a huge problem to them.
DKMNEWS.NET interaction with some women, they lamented bitterly because they have to wake up early to come and cue on the well water so that they can get some their husbands are having big issues with them on that dawn wake up because that’s the time they want to come on road.
Tufohen of Gomoa Kweikrom Nana Akromah, also added that, since from the time his elders came and settled at Gomoa Kweikrom they haven’t get portable pipe water to drink. He emphasized they walk a long way to go and fetch water from the Ayensu river at Gomoa Okyereko before they can get water to drink
He stated they have borehole but is very salty so they can’t even bath with it and even drink, and the school children too have to wake up early dawn to go to the pits to fetch water from there before the cows and the donkeys come and spoil the water if not that they can’t go to school.
We therefore appealing to the government to come our aid because we’ve done everything we could but our efforts prove futile.
