The public Relations Officer of the Public Utility and Regulatory Commission (PURC) for the Bono Region, Madam Julia Antwi has advised the general public to be energy efficient to prevent excessive electricity bills as the commission announced the increase in percent of utility bills effective February 2023.
Speaking in an exclusive interview, Mad. Julia Antwi apprised the general public to ensure effective awareness to the usage of electricity indicating that we must switch off our gadgets when we leave for work and keenly follow the behavior and activities of our wards towards electricity gadgets to prevent consistent switching on and off of the gadgets which contributes to the increase of the charges.
She added that we must try all avenues to purchase and use brand-new products as compared to second-hand products because second-hand products used in our homes consume a lot of electricity which leads to high electrical charges.
Speaking on the new charges which comprise 29% and 8% of electricity and water respectively, she noted that industrial and commercial companies will be duly considered to help gain more investors in the country because most companies and industries complain about the high electricity charges which affect their finances hence the decision to reduce the tariff for these companies and industries.
