Mrs. Evelyn Yawa Bansah the Bono East Regional Director of Department of Social Welfare has observed that every Human being irrespective of your caliber has his or her Strength and Weaknesses therefore if one is Physically Disabled in a form shouldn’t make that person a liability to the community.
According to her, it is very sympathetic to see People who are deformed in a way begging for alms on the streets while they could use same energy and time to work or do something meaningful to earn themselves a dignified life, because she maintains that “Disability is not Inability”.
Mrs. Evelyn Yawa Bansah was speaking in an interview with DKMNEWS.NET when the Techiman Municipal Assembly presented Cash/money and Deep Freezers to a tune GhC78, 000 to some forty five (45) Persons Living with Disabilities to support them do businesses or further their education in order to become useful to the Society or contribute their quota to the development of the Nation.
Hon. Benjamin Yaw Gyarko the Techiman Municipal Chief Executive in his address revealed that, the presentation formed part of the Disbursement of the District Assemblies Common Fund and therefore charged the Department of Social Welfare to continue monitoring to ensure that the beneficiaries put the monies or items received to good use and their lives been transformed in fulfillment of the PWDs Program’s objective.
Finally, Some Persons with Disabilities who benefited from this year’s Common Fund Disbursement expressed their gratitude to the Techiman Municipal Assembly pledging to put the monies or items received to proper use and pleaded with other Disabled Persons who have not benefited to have patience and register with the Social Welfare Department as it would be their turn next time.
