An 80year old man, Opanin Kofi Bosu has expressed fear for his life, that of his 74year wife’s and grandchildren who live with them in same house at Akyem Asene in the Asene Manso Akroso district of Eastern region as two CID men from Akyem Oda divisional police department came to search for a man between the hours of 9pm-10pm in the night while they were asleep.
According to him, the person by name Nana Ankomah they came searching for doesn’t even stay in their house but upon numerous explanation to the two CID men, they still insisted to search in all the rooms in the house even when they didn’t come with any search warrant.
He narrated how the incident happened on Tuesday 9th May, 2023 late evening to DKMNEWS.NET and expressed fear and worry in how the two CID men from Akyem Oda police division forced him when he was almost naked since he was having only towel around him waist to allow them to search for a man who doesn’t live with them in their house or has no knowledge about the reason why they were searching for him.
He further added that, himself, his wife and grandchildren are leaving in fear now as they do not know the next thing going to follow after this fearsome late night search and has called on the IGP to as a matter of urgency set up an investigation team to probe into this case to know why the CID men came to his house to search for someone he doesn’t know his whereabouts or has any knowledge about his case.
The 74year old woman Maame Yaa Twumasiwaa, the wife of Opanin Kofi Bosu also spoke to the media and expressed sadness and lamented about the frustration they went through in the hands of the two CID men and also called on IGP to intervene as they do not have any money or anyone to fight for them and in addition to that, they are old people who are not physically strong to be passing through this manner of frustration at late night while they were asleep.
The Akyem Oda divisional police commander; ACP Rev. Dr. Samuel Nyamekye Adane-Ameyaw has emphasized that the police has the authority to search at anytime hence the two CID men have not violated any law for searching in the old man and his wife house at the said time.
