Choreographer and dance instructor, popularly known as Endurance Grand has opened up about the challenges she faced when she decided to leave Nigeria and start a new life in Ghana.
In a revealing interview with Delay on TV3, the viral dancer said despite facing resistance from her mother and family, she made the bold move to pursue her passion.
Endurance Grand confessed that she did not inform her mother about her auditions to become a dancer with DWP Academy. This decision stemmed from the lack of support she received from her family, especially considering the unfortunate passing of her father.
“I did not tell my mum so she did not know that I was auditioning to be a dancer with DWP Academy because I cut ties with them because they were not in support of me coming to Ghana to be by myself and also looking at the fact that my dad had passed away,” she shared
According to her, upon arriving in Ghana, she found herself relying on the kindness of friends who allowed her to “squat” with them temporarily.
This living arrangement, although challenging, provided her with the opportunity to pursue her passion for dance while she worked towards establishing herself in Ghana.
“I was a squatter. I was squatting with my friend in Ho before coming to Tema and squatting. It was an occupation, squatting,” she said humorously.
The native of the Volta Region, who was born in Ghana, but lived most of her childhood in Nigeria. Now, Endurance Grand has carved a name for herself in the dance industry having worked with the likes of Usher, Nana Ama Mcbrown, Gyakie and many others under the Dance With A Purpose brand.
She continues to inspire others with her talent and perseverance.
