A house in Virginia exploded Monday night after officers executed a search warrant at the residence. The suspect inside the Arlington duplex is presumed dead.

Three officers sustained minor injuries, but thankfully no neighbors or bystanders were hurt. Approximately 10 to 12 homes in the surrounding area were affected by the blast. The police are still investigating the cause of the explosion. Fire officials mentioned that the gas supply to the house had been turned off prior to the blast. The incident began when Mr. Yoo fired a flare gun multiple times from inside his home. After authorities were called, they obtained a search warrant for the house. They tried to communicate with Mr. Yoo through phone and loudspeakers, but he didn’t respond. The police then broke down the door and encountered suspected gunfire. They used non-flammable chemicals to try and get him out, but the house exploded shortly after. Human remains were found in the wreckage, and medical examiners are working to identify them as Mr. Yoo’s. The police have stated that there is no ongoing threat to the public and no other suspects. Mr. Yoo had a history of filing lawsuits and making baseless claims on social media. The police are also looking into concerning social media posts made by him.
