Joseph Kosinski is set to return to direct ‘TOP GUN 3’.

Co-writer Ehren Kruger is writing a script for a new installment of Maverick. Director Joe Kosinski is expected to return as well. Tom Cruise will reunite with his co-stars Miles Teller and Glen Powell.

The sequel has been in development since late fall. Maverick was a huge success at the box office, earning $1.5 billion globally. Cruise is currently working on Mission: Impossible 8, so the new Top Gun movie may not come out soon. Studios will continue to compete for Cruise’s time and attention.

Tom Cruise has signed a development deal with Warner Bros. Discovery. There’s a chance that his projects with Warner Bros. might be delayed until late 2025 or even beyond, depending on his schedule. After the success of Top Gun: Maverick, there has been speculation about a possible third film. While Jerry Bruckheimer has been coy about it, Joe Kosinski hinted that there might be more story to tell with Maverick. He mentioned that Maverick still has some gas left in the tank and isn’t ready to settle down.
