His family disclosed that he was experiencing difficulties with blood clotting in his leg and asked for public assistance in covering his medical expenses. In an attempt to preserve the actor’s life, surgeons performed seven surgical procedures and amputated one of his legs.

His daughter Valatine Okafor stated in a statement from December 2023 that “the doctors had to go ahead and amputate (the) same leg further to ensure we didn’t lose him because the first amputation (of his leg) didn’t completely correct his health predicament.”

One of Nollywood’s most well-known comedy actors, Okafor marked his 40th year in the film industry in September 2023 and has a long list of leading parts to his name.

Millions of admirers in Nigeria and throughout Africa came to love the comedian for his portrayal of the endearing and fumbling Mr. Ibu.
