Two huge circular livestream video “portals” now link New York City and Dublin, Ireland. They were created by an artist to bring the two cities closer together. The portals are located in the Flatiron District in Manhattan and near O’Connell Street in Dublin. They provide a 24/7 live video connection between the cities, even though they’re over 3,000 miles apart.

Portals.org, the organization responsible for these installations, has also created portals in Vilnius, Lithuania, and Lublin, Poland, back in May 2021. The project was initially funded by Benediktas Gylys, the founder of Portals and a talented Lithuanian artist, author, and entrepreneur. Since then, local groups have joined forces to support and collaborate on these portal installations.
