Aaron Rodgers Reveals He Met His Wife in 2017 and ‘Knew’ She Was the One Before Relationships with Danica Patrick and Shailene Woodley

The 42-year-old quarterback has shared few details about his wife since he revealed in June 2025 that he’d gotten married “a couple months ago” during a press conference.

But, during appearance on The Pat MacAfee Show on Wednesday, March 4, the NFL star divulged that he first met his now-wife in 2017, and knew he “wanted to be with her.”

“I knew that there was something crazy special about this, and I wanted to be with her,” he told host Pat MacAfee, noting that from the beginning she was very clear about what she wanted from her life. “And she would make funny comments like, ‘I would never live in Green Bay,’ and ‘I don’t want to be a player’s wife.’ She’s just not a public person.”

After they met, Rodgers said, the woman “moved back across the pond.”

“And I got myself into, you know, crazy town. And I was with individuals who called the paparazzi, who leaked or talked about where I was living. Who coerced me to make the proverbial Instagram, social media posts,” he alleged of his exes, which include Olivia Munn, Danica Patrick and Shailene Woodley. “I never really wanted to live a public life.”

The football pro didn’t specify when he met his wife in 2017. However, the timing comes amid a multitude of relationship moves that he made, including splitting up with Munn that April.

“They have amicably ended their relationship of three years,” a source told PEOPLE at the time.

In January 2018, Rodgers and NASCAR driver Patrick went public with their relationship. They dated through July 2020, when a rep for Patrick confirmed that they’d separated.

Rodgers then went on to date Woodley, with sources first confirming that they were an item in February 2021. They announced their engagement that same month, though Woodley said that they’d been “engaged for a while” later that month during an appearance on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon.

The couple called off their relationship a year later, in February 2022.

After their split, Rodgers was briefly linked to Mallory Edens, the daughter of one of the Milwaukee Bucks’ owners, in January 2023. However, a source told PEOPLE that it was “casual” and “nothing serious at all.”

His relationship status remained a mystery until he announced that he was dating a mysterious and private woman named Brittani in December 2024, and after he sparked engagement rumors by wearing what appeared to be a wedding ring while attending the Kentucky Derby in May 2025.

Speaking on the public’s interest in his relationship with McAfee on Wednesday, Rodgers said it was “f—ing bizarre,” adding that he’d been dealing with “legitimate stalkers” for a while.

He accused the paparazzi of “stalking” him and “flying drones over [his] house,” saying he’d herad that there was a “bounty on getting a picture of my wife, which I think is very bizarre as well.”

“I understand the attention that comes with somebody who’s accomplished what I’ve accomplished. And so, in no way am I making this a ‘woe is me.’ But when it comes to your personal safety — and now it’s not just me, it’s me and her — it’s really bizarre,” he said.

Speaking about his wife’s privacy to MacAfee, he said, “She didn’t sign up for this bulls—, you know?”

“She signed up because she loves me and she supports me an she wants to spend the rest of our lives together and start a family together. She didn’t sign up to be out front, you know, a social media WAG. She doesn’t want any of that bulls—, and I don’t either. And I was with that, which is even more telling. Like, do you understand? I was with it. I lived that life. I didn’t like it,” he said.

Rodgers also shared during the interview that he stays in shape for his wife.

“I wanna look good,” Rodgers said, before adding, “I want my wife to wanna f–k me all the time!”
