Asamankese CCTV Footage Shows Disturbing Accident Caught on Camera

Asamankese – CCTV footage – accident video – CCTV footage capturing a disturbing accident at Asamankese in the Eastern Region has surfaced on social media.

According to the footage, a truck, believed to have lost its brakes and control, was speeding through the area as pedestrians and passersby ran for their lives.

The vehicle then rammed into Dukes Fuel Station, destroying a fuel pump before crashing into a nearby building.

Many residents narrowly escaped injury, with only one person seen struggling on the ground after the crash.

Ghana continues to record high rates of road accidents, with brake failures, speeding, and reckless driving among the leading causes.

According to the National Road Safety Authority (NRSA), the Eastern Region is one of the areas frequently reporting serious crashes, particularly involving heavy-duty trucks.

The Eastern Regional Directorate of the National Road Safety Authority, NRSA, has revealed that a total of 13,489 road crashes were recorded in the year 2024 involving 22,975 vehicles.

15,607 persons got injured, 2,395 pedestrians were knocked down and 2,494 persons lost their lives.

This was an increase in death and injuries with decrease in reported cases, pedestrian knockdowns and vehicles involved in road crashes in the region, compared to the total number of 14,135 cases recorded in the year 2023 involving 23,998 vehicles involved, resulting in the killing of 2,276 persons, 2,559 pedestrian knockdowns and 15,409 injuries.

These provisional statistics of road traffic crash and casualty for the year 2024 were made available when the Eastern Regional Minister, Rita Akosua Awatey met with the Eastern Regional Heads of Department in Koforidua, the Eastern Regional capital.
