The Grammy-winning rapper, 33, went on Instagram Live in the early morning hours of Thursday, Feb. 26 and ate ice from a bucket for three minutes straight, comparing the act to “drinking six bottles of water.”
The live stream began with Cardi (real name Belcalis Almánzar) sitting down to prepare a cup of Buldak ramen, complete with milk and cheese, while speaking about her ongoing Little Miss Drama Tour.

“Mind you, today I did not perform how I wanted to perform because yesterday, I don’t know what I ate, but I had a bad stomach ache all night long,” she said, noting that she “took like five showers” and a bath to soothe her stomach. “But here I am eating some bulls—, but that’s ‘cause I’m on the road. Who’s gonna cook healthy for me? I don’t have my mommy or my chef.”
In between bites of ramen, Cardi scooped ice into her mouth from a silver bucket. At one point, she mentioned feeling “a little brain freeze.”
The “Hello” artist then spoke about her affinity for snacking on ice and explained someone recently spoke to her about having an “ice addiction.”
“I feel like it’s gotten worse over the years,” said Cardi, who explained the habit sometimes makes her chest feel “a little bit tight” due to her asthma.
“However, they say that you eat a lot of ice when you’re anemic, but I’m not anemic. I know because I get blood tested all the f—ing time,” she said.
“I feel like there’s benefits to it,” added Cardi. “The way that I eat ice, I see it as equivalent [to] drinking six bottles of water a day — probably more because I’ll say in a day I probably eat five large [cups of] Chick-fil-A ice, sometimes maybe more.”

The Am I the Drama? musician explained she also drinks lots of water in its liquid form. During the live stream, she also sipped from an electrolyte beverage to help recover from her stomach issues.
Cardi isn’t the only musician who’s spoken publicly about enjoying an ice snack. Remy Ma revealed in 2022 that she cracked a veneer from eating ice, and Coco Jones recently told W Magazine she loves “chewing ice.”
“My doctor says it’s an iron deficiency,” said Jones, 28. “Girl, I already knew that.”
Cardi’s Little Miss Drama Tour made its latest stop in Sacramento, Calif. on Feb. 25, and it’ll continue with its next show in San Francisco on Feb. 27.
