The Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the Consumer Protection Agency, Kofi Kapito, recently spoke in support of the Electricity Company of Ghana (ECG). He defended their decision not to release a load-shedding timetable during the ongoing power outages in the country.

Kofi Kapito, the CEO of the Consumer Protection Agency, has defended the Electricity Company of Ghana (ECG) for not being able to release a load-shedding timetable during the current power outages in the country. According to Mr. Kapito, financial constraints have made it challenging for ECG to provide a timetable this time. Unlike previous instances where power outages were mainly due to generation capacity limitations, the current situation is more complicated due to financial issues.

According to Mr. Kapito, if the financial challenge is addressed, there would be no need for a load-shedding timetable. He is urging Ghanaians and others who are requesting a timetable to be patient with ECG while they work on resolving the financial issues. Mr. Kapito emphasized that once the financial challenges are resolved, there won’t be a need for a load-shedding timetable anymore.
