Kate Middleton Recalls ‘Moments of Fear’ in Emotional World Cancer Day Message
Kate Middleton released a new message to commemorate World Cancer Day.
World Cancer Day is observed annually on Feb. 4, and the Princess of Wales, 44, released a new video to social media about the occasion.
The short clip featured footage of Princess Kate meeting people during her visit to The Royal Marsden Hospital’s Chelsea site in January 2025. The outing came with the confirmation that she received treatment from The Royal Marsden during her cancer journey, and the Princess of Wales shared later that day that she was in remission.
In a voiceover of the new video shared to Instagram, Princess Kate began, “On World Cancer Day, my thoughts are with everyone who is facing a cancer diagnosis, undergoing treatment or finding their way through recovery. Cancer touches so many lives — not only patients, but the families and friends and caregivers who walk beside them.”
“As anyone who has experienced this journey will know, it’s not linear. There are moments of fear and exhaustion. But also moments of strength, kindness, and profound connection,” she continued.
“Today is a reminder of the importance of care, understanding and hope. Please know you are not alone,” she said.
The Princess of Wales announced in March 2024 that she was undergoing treatment for cancer and stepped out of the spotlight to focus on her health.

Princess Kate said in September 2024 that she completed chemotherapy treatment and shared in January 2025 that she was in remission following her unannounced outing to The Royal Marsden. It was also announced that day that she and Prince William became Joint Patrons of The Royal Marsden NHS Foundation Trust, taking on the royal role with the world-renowned cancer center.

Princess Kate has openly spoken about navigating the challenges that come with the phase after cancer treatment, describing that time as “really, really difficult” during a stop at Colchester Hospital in July.
“You put on a sort of brave face, stoicism through treatment. Treatment’s done, then it’s like, ‘I can crack on, get back to normal,’ but actually, the phase afterwards is really, really difficult,” the royal said then.
“You’re not necessarily under the clinical team any longer, but you’re not able to function normally at home as you perhaps once used to,” the Princess of Wales continued. “And actually, someone to help talk you through that, show you and guide you through that sort of phase that comes after treatment, I think is really valuable.”
“You have to find your new normal and that takes time…and it’s a roller coaster, it’s not smooth, like you expect it to be. But the reality is you go through hard times,” Princess Kate reflected.
