17th October every year marks International Day of Eradicating Poverty and Dignity for all in practice is the umbrella theme of the International Day for the Eradication of Poverty for 2022-2023.

The dignity of human being is not only a fundamental right in itself but constitutes the the basis of all other fundamental rights.

Therefore “Dignity” is not an abstract concept : it belongs to each and everyone.

Today , many people are living in persistent poverty experience their dignity being denied and disrespected.

So therefore the Executive Director of FOSDA , Mrs. Theodora William Anti made it clear in an interview, stating over 30,000 students who are entering into JHS has denied access to education all in the name of poverty.

“Over 80,000 students three years ago in the Northern Sector had the opportunity to further their education in JHS, but unfortunately only 50,000 are writing their BECE today meaning over 30,000 were not able to further, because of the poverty rate there” she stated.

She further emphasized that, over 1.5 million people are living beyond the poverty line , so therefore if you are having money without access to education means your poor.

She lastly stated the only way we can eradicate poverty is to track every child from birth till the child gets proper education from primary, JHS, SHS and even Tertiary till they gets jobs.
