Sabrina Carpenter Shines in Bob Mackie Diamond Gown for Her Stunning Grand Ole Opry Debut
Grand Ole Opry – Bob Mackie gown – Sabrina Carpenter outfit – Sabrina Carpenter got the full house tour of the Grand Ole Opry at her debut at the historic Nashville venue on Tuesday, Oct. 7.
Carpenter, 26, wore an archival Bob Mackie “black jersey one-shouldered strip dress, with large crystal and diamond gemstones,” according to the designer’s Instagram. Mackie, 86, confirmed the dress was originally designed for Ann-Margret in the 1970s, and shared the original sketch for the dazzling design.
The “Tears” singer completed the look with glittery heels and her signature retro-inspired blonde bombshell blowout. “Last night i made my @opry debut in Nashville and what a magical night it was,” Carpenter wrote in the caption of an Instagram post shared on Wednesday, Oct. 8.
Sheryl Crow introduced Carpenter’s performance, and the “Espresso” singer noted that she is “the biggest fan ever” of Crow, 63.
“Thank you to the showstopping band that accompanied me last night,” Carpenter wrote. “thank you to my amazing fans who came out and for the Opry frequenters that opened me with welcome ears and hearts :’) I’m a lucky girl!”
In the post, Carpenter shared photos of herself performing in the Bob Mackie ensemble onstage, a behind-the-scenes snap with Crow, and a throwback photo of Dolly Parton performing at the Opry early in her career.

The Grand Ole Opry radio show has set the scene for countless country stars’ rise to fame since its first broadcast in 1925. Parton, 79, Johnny Cash, Willie Nelson, and countless country icons have performed on the show, as well as contemporary country singers including Kacey Musgraves and Kelsea Ballerini. The current home of the show, the Grand Ole Opry House, opened in 1974.
Carpenter and Parton previously collaborated on a remix of the Short and Sweet track “Please Please Please.” The pair starred in a music video to accompany their duet in February.
“Dolly and me singing in a pickup truck!!!!!!,” Carpenter wrote on Instagram at the time. “I am so honored to have one of my biggest idols on a song that means so much to me. ‘Short n’ Sweet’ deluxe is out now! Go watch and listen!!!!”
“Love you forever @dollyparton 🤍🦋,” she added.
The performance comes days after Carpenter joined Shania Twain at Austin City Limits on Oct. 4.
