Taylor Swift Reveals Travis Kelce’s Funny Mix-Up: Thought Hugh Grant’s Wife Was Greta Gerwig at the Eras Tour
Taylor Swift – Travis Kelce – Hugh Grant – Taylor Swift revealed Travis Kelce once confused Hugh Grant’s wife for Greta Gerwig.
The 14-time Grammy winner reflected on the hilarious mixup at the Eras Tour, when her fiancé thought the Heretic actor’s wife was actually the Barbie director, during an interview on Wednesday, Oct. 8 on Late Night with Seth Meyers.
In June 2024, Grant, 65, attended the second Eras Tour date in London, where he met Kelce, 35, in the VIP tent.

According to Swift, 35, the Kansas City Chiefs player met Grant’s wife, Anna Eberstein, too, whom he thought was the Lady Bird director. He then proceeded to congratulate Eberstein on his favorite Gerwig film, Barbie.
Kelce even made an “I’m just Ken” joke while pointing at Swift and didn’t know until after the show that he was actually speaking with Grant’s very confused wife.
After the tent party, Kelce told Swift he had such a great time and met all these celebrities, including Grant. He didn’t mention Gerwig though, which puzzled Swift, she told Seth Meyers. When she heard Gerwig didn’t respond to the “I’m just Ken” joke, she thought that maybe Gerwig had just heard the “I’m just Ken” joke one too many times.
Kelce explained to Swift that Gerwig and Grant were dancing really closely all night and “had all these inside jokes,” which led him to believe they might be making a movie together. “They kind of seem like they’re like soulmates,” Swift recalled Kelce telling her.
“The tea is crazy tonight, Travis,” Swift told him.
Meanwhile, Kelce told Swift he had a great time dancing with a family. Swift then saw a bunch of videos of Kelce dancing with Gerwig, so Swift told Kelce it looks like she did enjoy the joke. “Oh, that’s not Greta,” Kelce told her.
Swift then figured out what happened. Kelce confused Eberstein for Gerwig.
“The good thing is he recognized true love,” Meyers said. “He saw soulmates, and he knew you were soulmates.”

After Grant attended Swift’s second Eras tour show in London in June 2024, he shared his gratitude for the “Opalite” singer, 34, on X.
“Dear @taylorswift13. You have an incredible show, an amazing and v hospitable team,” he said at the time, before giving a shoutout to Kelce calling him an “excellent if gigantic boyfriend.”
Grant also hinted that he had taken part in some drinking during the concert, adding a “#TequilaShots” hashtag.
“Thanks so much from one [aging] London boy, wife and thrilled 8 year old #halfgirlhalfbracelet,” the Love Actually star concluded.

The following day, Swift wrote back and declared herself an official “stan” of Grant before expressing her gratitude.
“As a long time Hugh Grant stan this tweet is very important to my culture,” she replied on X.
The “Honey” performer released her 12th studio album The Life of a Showgirl on Oct. 3.
