Jadon Sancho has praised the impact of Casemiro and “crazy guy” Lisandro Martinez on the Manchester United dressing room.

The Brazilian defensive midfielder and Argentine centre-back are part of a £225million spending spree under Erik ten Hag in the transfer window.

Casemiro has twice come off the bench since his move from Real Madrid, but Martinez has started all five Premier League games and has already become a fans favourite.

The 5ft 9ins centre-back was questioned for his lack of height after successive defeats to start the season, but he has been outstanding in the wins against Liverpool, Southampton and Leicester City.

Martinez’s aggressive style on the pitch has won favour with supporters and Sancho revealed he is just as intense off the pitch.

“Casa has a lot of experience, Licha, Argentinian, crazy guy, but he’s someone that we needed,” said Sancho.

Martinez’s partnership at the heart of defence with Raphael Varane has been impressive and Sancho also praised the impact of the World Cup winner.

“He brings a lot of strength, courage, and team spirit, playing with these guys is very nice,” he said.

“The defence is playing well, but it’s not just the defence it’s everyone on the pitch, everyone is putting in 100%, we’re working on this on the training pitch and we have to keep giving 100% to get the results.”

After three successive wins, United will face a tough test at Old Trafford on Sunday against early pacesetters Arsenal, who have maximum points after their first five Premier League games.

“They’ve won five out of five so we know Arsenal are going to be a tough game, we’re going to have to be ready, I’m sure the boys will recover now and be ready for Sunday,” said Sancho.
